Storm Doors in New Jersey
A storm door can protect your exterior door from the elements, improve energy efficiency, and help your home stand out from the crowd. Whether you’re a homeowner who’s looking to add some panache to the exterior of your home or a contractor who needs a storm door for your next project, our team of experienced professionals at Jaeger Lumber can help. We offer Andersen and Larson storm doors in a wide range of styles and colors.
What to Know About Storm Doors
When it comes to selecting a storm door, there are hundreds of designs and colors from which to choose. The type that works best for you will depend on your specific needs and the style and size of your home.

The two standard sizes of storm doors are 32 inches (usually for back doors) and 36 inches (for front entry doors). If you need a door in a different size, it’s no problem – we’re happy to special order it for you. Unlike big box stores, Jaeger Lumber is a mid-sized company that provides personalized service so you can rest assured you won’t get lost in the shuffle.
Screens and glass panels come in a variety of combinations, and many feature removable panels that can be changed depending on the season. Most manufacturers offer pre-hung door kits for easy installation, which can be slightly adjusted to sit on top of a door frame.
Storm Door Styles
Full-view storm doors have a top-to-bottom pane of glass, offer maximum light and view, and are a great way to show off a beautiful front door while also protecting it. Panel doors offer a more classic look with half or three-quarter views over a solid lower panel. From basic white or black to taupe, cranberry, brown, and green, they are available in a variety of colors.
If you’re looking for a storm door that provides more security, Andersen offers doors with protective grills, laminated security glass, and multipoint locking systems that secure the door jamb and the top and bottom of the storm door frame. You can even find storm doors with a built-in pet door so your furry friends can come and go as they please.
Materials for Storm Doors
Most manufacturers use aluminum for storm doors because it’s light, strong, weather-resistant, and easy to install. Typically, storm doors feature aluminum on the front and back layers with foam insulation in the center. Screen doors and storm doors also have a sweep at the bottom, which is designed to keep dirt, moisture, and air from entering your home.
Glass Panels
Because they get a lot of use (and sometimes abuse), storm doors are equipped with tempered glass, which resists breaking and shattering. Much like replacement windows, they are available with Low-E high-performance glass that provides better insulation and energy efficiency. If your door is in an area that gets a lot of direct sunlight, UV-resistant glass can help reduce fading of your entry door.
